Non Traditional Engagement Rings
I’m not sure what it is that makes some people think that it’s their right to make rude and personal comments.
This phenomenon happens a lot when you’re talking about planning a non traditional wedding.
When my beautiful friends, Brad and Leslie, got engaged, he bought her a great non traditional engagement ring - an amethyst ring that she had been eying on Etsy.
She was thrilled!
However, comments that ensued from others were not so charming.
When you get non traditional engagement rings, people will comment on everything from “why you didn’t get a diamond” to “maybe he can afford a diamond ring for your anniversary”.
Be prepared, ladies, to get some rude comments from some uppity ladies who feel threatened by your individuality.
My best advice, though, comes from Dr. Seuss - Remember:
“Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.”

According to traditional stone meanings, an amethyst helps to calm the mind and spirit. I think it’s a perfect stone to have in an engagement ring. What soon-to-be-bride couldn’t use a little calming influence??

I love my sapphire engagement ring! I explicitly told my boyfriend that I did not want a diamond. I find them to be plain and boring much like a white wedding dress. Besides, I think it’s better to have a big gem stone than a small diamond that you need a magnifying glass to see.
